Thanks to all wo wrote letters to the BOE and/or Dr. Brady. Glad to see that they will recognize at least some of those who gave so much to the youth of Potsdam! Hope they could have the unveiling this summer when we celebrate my parents 50th anniversary and our whole family will be in town! That has not happened in 25 years!! What do you think Steve??? Thanks again to all who wrote letters! Terri :)

It is official...The "GILLETTE-SAUNDERS PHYSICAL EDUCATION COMPLEX" was voted on and approved by the PCS Board of Education. The whole wing will be dedicated to "Hal" and Louise. Any further developments such as an official unveiling will probably take place after the completion of the construction of the new gymnasium. Thanks to all who wrote letters, made phone calls, and made this dedication become a reality.

The first committe meeting for the naming of the New Gymnasium will be this coming Wednesday, 6th of February. Dr. Pat Brady will accept email letters at pbrady@potsdam.k12.ny.us

Terri, I couldn't agree more. I just finished writing my letter to the Board supporting your parents in the naming of the gym along with Hal. Both your parents were such a huge part of my high school experience and continue to help me (through the lesson they've taught me)to support our son's in their athletic endeavors. Even though we live over five hunderd miles from P-dam, both our boys know very well who Jack and Louis Sanders are and what they meant to me (and my brothers and sisters). I continue to run into women my age, who didn't experience a tenth of the athletic opportunites that we had in northern New York. Thank you Louise - I am a better person for your tireless energy. I encourage each and everyone of you who's life has been touch by Jack and Louise to show there support and write the board a letter today!

Thanks Bob for saving me many emails! I know I am a little biased on this subject, but I'm going to say my piece. I too believe that the new Gymnasium should be named the Gillette/Saunders Gym. Given that I grew up in the Saunders household, I know first hand how much my parents and Hal Gillette gave to the sports and fitness programs at PCS. Hal and my mom ran the Physical Education department at PCS together, to give students many different opportunities in fitness activities and fun! Not only did my mom start female sports programs at PCS, she was very instrumental in getting them started in Section 10. She also worked tirelessly at the state level to push title IX through to give female atheltes the beginnings of "equal playing field" such that it was in those days. There may not be as many sport teams for females today, if it were not for her many trips to Albany away from her family. Also her many hours of coaching , planning and organizing different sports seasons, playoffs and sectional championships should not be overlooked by the Potsdam community. Hal and my Dad coached different male sports for many seasons. They were also two of the first male coaches for female sports at PCS. I know that they enjoyed coaching both the boys and the girls. I hope that if you feel as we do (I'm speaking for my family now), you'll help out and contact the PCS school board and the High School to help honor these three dedicated individuals. Thanks for letting me speak. Terri

Hi fellow alumni, Many of you are aware that the idea of naming the Potsdam High School gymnasium after the late great 'Hal' Gillette was brought before the Board of Education and voted upon. After a 4-4 split, the board decided to form a committee to further explore the idea of naming the new gym. I just wanted to spread the word and tell as many people as possible that this is your chance to express your opinion. I am a neutral party but in case anyone cares, I thought the Gym should be co-named with Louise/Jack Saunders. The GILLETTE - SAUNDERS GYMNASIUM, sounds good but I really have no say in the matter. There have been at least 50 letters addressed to the School on supporting the HAL GILLETTE GYMNASIUM and many outstanding community members have spoken in front of the school board on the matter. I feel our generation was a big part of the transition into the Title 9 program which has resulted in equal boys/girls representation. Hal, Louise, Jack and many others were the pioneers at PCS as it relates to Title 9. They were some of the important figures that organized many of the girls sports, provided equal scheduling on the playing fields, and promoted health, fitness and team spirit. Please spread the word...If you would like to have an input on the naming of the new gymnasium, now is the time to act. Some committee members have already been selected. You should contact Potsdam HS at 315-265-2000 or send a letter to PCS - Board of Education Gymnasium committee Leroy St Potsdam NY 13676 ASAP Thanks Steve Greene '78

I am so sorry I didn't find this site until today and even more sorry that I missed the reunion. I looked at the pictures everyone posted and it is so strange to see everyone after all these years, yikes. I am living in South Florida right now, but I am moving to South Carolina in January with my husband and two dogs. Hopefully I can make the next reunion. Thank you all for the hard work you've done creating the website and hosting the reunion.

I love this idea Anne!! I'll start! One of the best memories from PCS was our band's trip to Italy. THANK YOU MR. JAMES for making that happen. As a parent now, I see what must have gone into the planning, the headaches, the parents to deal with --- all so that we could have the experience of a lifetime. Who remembers breaking the toilet??????

Posted by Anne Colburn Weaver (class of 1978) on 10/20/2007:
This would be a great place for everyone to write about their memories about Mr Gillette or any other teacher they would like to share memories about. Tonight my family is going to the IAC conference soccer finals, it will be the last year that Tom and I will have a child involved. (my nerves can't take anymore, my son is the goalie!!) We just tell our kids to enjoy, these memories will last forever. I have many great memories, mostly about sports, gym class, and lunch room. When did I ever open my books!!! Really, I believe all of our teachers would like to hear how they are all part of our memories. Lets hear from all of you guys, there will be some good laughs.

Well said Jennifer!

Posted by hafer (class of 1977) on 10/19/2007:
Hey Colburn thanks for the memory. Mr Gillette was a pretty patient coach. I don't know who was happier when we won that first game--him or us.I think he and others were paid tribute at the reunion, by Bob and those who spent time with him.To quote Dave Mattews "Turns out not where, but who you're with that really matters". Being the gentle soul that Hal was I believe he'd share the sentiment. Maybe we should all give a little more thought to how we'd like to be remembered---maybe 15 minutes wasn't enough.

Posted by Jennifer Cavanaugh (class of 1977) on 10/18/2007:
It's terribly sad to hear about Hal Gillette - he was a good man and a good coach. It's even sadder that some of our classmates are using the posting of his death as a springboard to - yet again - criticize the reunion and the people who worked on it. I don't really think it's appropriate or kind to air personal attacks in a public forum, but considering the source, I guess it's not surprising. I'm sure the next reunion will be much more acceptable - enjoy.

Posted by Anne Colburn Weaver (class of 1977) on 10/18/2007:
I can still remember when Mr Gillette was trying to teach the Varsity girls softball team hand signals for stealing bases etc...I still don't get them!!!! Thinking about that now makes me smile..He was probably thinking what was he getting into by coaching girls!!! He was a great coach and a very nice person. He will be missed by all

Posted by CW (class of 1978) on 10/17/2007:
What a great oppotunity we missed by not honoring such a wonderful role model for all of us-- Hal Gillette. Bob, you are right we missed a wonderful opportunity to appreciate all he did for us even though we did not realize it at the time way back when. We can't second guess what happened this summer--we need to learn and appreciate the teachers who show for the next reunion and recognize them for turning us into the wonderful people we have all become. He was a great role model and will be sorely missed.

Posted by Bob Benson (class of 1977) on 10/17/2007:
Sad to hear about Hal Gillette's passing...Looking back, we should have spent more time recognizing the teachers/mentors who were present rather than spending 15 minutes on passed school mates (lighting candles? kinda morbid I thought) we lost a great opportunity (that was why we invited them)to recognize and single out each teacher's accomplishments, gifts and personality...Next time we will spend more time honoring the "living"...and no more fire halls...

Dear Nancy, Well now ya tell me... after 30 years of therapy. My self-image has been indelibly shaped by brussel sproutidus! Every time I go to shave - all I see are sprouts in the mirror. I have been a failure at my lifelong efforts to get people to stop eating them. On the bright side, I did get a part time job once as a side dish on Veggie Tales. But I forgive you (and maybe Hafe too, although as you claim, it was ALL her doing). Wish You Were There (reunion). By the way, I moved to Brussels and changed my name to Sproutman. (p.s. don't eat them)

Posted by Nancy Bartlett (class of 1977) on 08/24/2007:
DAVID BOATMAN, you do not look at all like brussel sprouts. My sincere appologies. It was HAFER that came up with that. And not having a brain of my own, I went along with anything she said. There, I have confessed. Most sicerely yours, Nancy

Hi Everyone. I really missed seeing you all. Got your e-mail address from this site, Jules. How in the hell are you, anyway? About a hundred years ago, I had a mysterious visitor. Saw someone pull in the drive, and out got J.C. and Dave. What the... They came in and we had some beer. Some more beer. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard. What a comedy team! Then Pat came home, he set them up with some old rain jackets, or did he just give them some plastic trash bags? they were heading to Killington to ski. The knuckleheads, it was pouring rain!Anyhow, I've been thinking about you, especially when I read my yearbook circa 1977! Jolly old England, you say? Hope you love it there. Someday I'm going to get to Ireland. My address is: NananBArt@aol.com.

Hey Hafe . . . my e-mail address is: jalenney@yahoo.co.uk, drop me a line so I have your e-mail . . I am in London now but maybe going to the Sudan to work for a few months as of October, then thinking about visiting NYC, so, who knows, maybe I will make a trip up to Potsdam during that time. I will definitely get in touch if I do.

Hey Jules, how great to hear from you--you missed a good time and you were sorely missed also. I think the nicest memory was just seeing people laughing their asses off everywhere I turned. My gut hurt sooo bad after that first night at Luchie's, the ultimate was seeing beer come out Bradshaw's nose as we were "recapturing" memories with Mulkin and Luch!! Kirk had some Eileen couldn't even fathom. Rothrauff says she'll be home again this month--haven't got the call yet, but I did turn her on to this awesome site. Thanks again Boaty you have encouraged delinquents like Bradshaw and myself into bold attempts at modern communication.(Bradshaw is almost as pathetic as I am) Anyway, Lenney if you ever visit Pdam again better call me! Your brother David makes it up periodically but I have to rely on my kids to catch up on you through him. The days and nights at the Lenney camp are unforgettable! I sometimes wonder how we're still alive! I'd kill my kids if they did half the shit we did. Thanks to Elise and Hurley and Bradshaw for sending all those great shots. It was hard to top the "commitee meetings" but the actual get together was the best. write back Lenney-would ya?

Hey, This thing still works!!! Anyhow, it was good to see everyone. Although, I still don't know who some of the people were. I tried to talk to people that I recognized but didn't do the round the room (rush chairman thing) too much. Hopefully the ones I didn't recognize were primarily spouses. I was doing better then I thought I would though. Good job with the pictures. I would have probably screened out a few out, but that was why Monte probably recognized me cause my mouth was flappin in half of them. Too bad you weren't there Monte! I was looking for somebody that was taller then Marty Valade. Is he still growing? JK :-) Is Benson still paying for the TAB at the CC by working a second job!!! Later, Thorpie

Julia, You're very welcome! We wish you could have joined us, but certainly understand that being in Europe makes it a little tougher to get to Potsdam. Hopefully, seeing all the photos at least enabled you to have fun trying to figure out "who was who" and dredging up names you hadn't spoken in years.

Yeah, hey Eileen, I have to chip in my 2 cents too re: Laurie's stories, her memory is scarily incredible - or is that incredibly scary!? - and I was re-introduced to it at my parents' 50th wedding anniversary party a few years ago in Potsdam, when I made my first visit back to Potsdam in more than 15 years . . . let's just be thankful she is not into blackmailing . . . Laurie, you should write, I can't spend too much time around you for fear I am going to split an internal organ from laughing so hard . . . really sorry I had to miss the stories and the 30th reunion, sounds like it was a great time for all, and thanks to Wendy Marshall for sending me loads of photos. Terri, as to the goalposts incident to which you refer . . . don't forget, I'm a lawyer, and so taking the 5th on that one! Elaine, thinking of you.

Legal Female vocal groups began to produce songs that mixed Doo-wop harmonies with Rhythm and Blues music. There's not a single weak track among all that work, and there's simply no question that they consistently broke new ground musically. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

Is that correct Terri, I am only learning the basics of this great program of kodak gallery pics, but people must give their emails to be able to view them? Your parents are such an inspiration, they look fantastic and they are the best as teachers and coaches! Super Reunion: Accolades are richly deserved for the Reunion Committee for the outstanding reunion of the Classes of 77&78. We have attended many of these celebrations and never before have you had three days of activity well planned so all the participants would have the opportunity to renew old acquaintances and reminisce the fun times you had in the haloed halls of PCS. We feel that with this time frame it gave the alumna from far away the incentive to make the long trip. And we think that was born out by the attendance you gathered. It would have been nice if Mother Nature had cooperated but we still had those diehard golfers who will play rain or shine. Thats the PCS desire to compete we feel. Louise and I want to thank you for making us part of this special occassion. It was very special for us to what you have done with your life and where you have migrated in the world. In fact we found out that one of your classmates lives in the same town as our second oldest son. Small world,"eh", and getting smaller every day. We know that we can speak for the faculty present, that the meal was outstanding. We also feel your recognition of those classmates no longer with us, was a most sincere and appropriate way to show what these people meant to all of us. Thanks again, take care of yourselves and we will do it again in five years. Sincerly, Louise & Jack

WOW! What a weekend!!! It was so much fun seeing everyone again after all these years. We missed those of you who couldn't make it. Hey, where was Mike Dumas? I know South Colton is a long drive from Potsdam, but come on...no excuses. Was it just me, or did Marty Valade appear to have grown about a foot taller since high school??? Chris Wedzicha, have you discovered the fountain of youth down there in Florida? It sure seemed that way (you haven't aged a single day!!) John Kaplan, Chief of Police in Potsdam, who would have ever predicted that? Congratulations to you! Pelkey, we all appreciated the effort you made to join us on Friday night, even though you are going through so much in your family life right now with both your parents and wife all being extremely ill. What an awesome Biology teacher you were, for those of us who were fortunate enough to have taken your class. And Monsieur Jambon, you were another extraordinary teacher who positively impacted so many of our lives. Merci, beaucoup! Also, thanks to those of you who organized all the reunion events for us. The tour of the high school was a huge success. Greg Jadlos was an expert tour guide, showing us around our old stomping grounds. What about that Sugar Shack out back??? How cool was that??? The students make real maple syrup, bottle it, and sell it to the public with the Sandstoner label on it. In terms of the reunion photos, I would be more than happy to post them in one centralized location for everyone to view. Simply email me any of the pictures you took at the reunion and I'll create a Web site for them. My email address is: marshawe@mail.armstrong.edu. I'll post the URL here on this board for everyone so they can view all the photos. If someone else has already started a site for us, just let me know and I won't create one. If not, you may begin sending them to me now to post. I also noticed that the class of 78 had a spreadsheet listing of everyone in their class included in their reunion booklet, but the class of 77 didn't. I wonder if Jennifer Jeffers Cavanaugh has that for our class, too? It would be helpful to get a copy of everyone's contact information, including emails, for our class, too. If she can send me the spreadsheet, I don't mind sending it out to people that request it, or we might want to post it as a file on this site, if Dave is willing to do that, since he is the Webmaster for this page. Bob Benson, the mystery has been solved. YOU are my stocker, Sammy Sandstoner AND Capt. Marvel. Thought you were pretty tricky, didn't you?? Hey, how good were those JRECK subs???? I think I ate one for every meal while I was up there. You can't find a better sub anywhere on the planet! We decided the secret to them is the bread and the hot red peppers. What I wouldn't pay for one right about now!!!! I wonder if they would deliver to Georgia.

A big Thanks to all the organizers and helpers of the BEST reunion ever! It was great to see everybody and loved having the class of '78 to double the celebration. The upside was seeing so many wonderful people all together again and feeling like we were barely out of h.s.(despite the drunk college student who snarled at us at Maxfield's..)The side effects were the dragging am.s after many late nights, slight laryngitis from talking and shouting so much and a pinched nerve in my neck from the strain of talking up to the likes of Boaty, Bob brothers, Dale P and marty v etc... Oh- and my bruised ego from the kareoke (sp)attempt (thanks ALOT mary ellen!)On the drive home I heard great songs from the 70's that I actually knew and even with my musically challenged voice-could have pulled off. The kickball game was fun even tho my son caught most of my kicks. Denise could kick 2x's further with bare feet! Craig C. - you were the star for us.. Nancy -Thanks so much for the book, can't wait to read it! Betsy, I admire you and enjoyed out chat. Gay -Tell your daughter I now have a clean bedroom & there is hope! Luch, thanks to your and Marta for the gathering and for the beers that I supposedly don't drink (Bob and Kirk, I'll also pay you back for your fancy canadian beers next time..) Terry- what did I do to Whalen's station wagon???Please explain blood sis! The dinner was so nice on Sat., the remembrance with candles for our special classmates no longer with us was very moving, seeing our great teachers and coaches, the food and the b-bopping on the dance floor (special shout out to Gina and robin!) Bruce F. - you stiffed me there, so I'm not talking to you. And when I say that, I mean it for longer than 3 mins.!) MJ- I am still talking to you - but really, really missed you at the reunion.Susie (sis) did a great job with the belly laughs tho.. And Laurie H. has got to go down in hx.as the best story teller with the most amazing memory! Elaine - thanks for giving Tim the compliment, whether he believed it or not-it made him feel welcome! Boba and Pedge -so good to see yu guys after so long, I hope my pics come out! Tim T, jenny and all SMS and cousin campus schoolers- there will always be a bond! I guess I should end this rambling here, as there were so many people with memory reviews to go thru..and so many I didn't get to corner , i mean talk to (Goon and Kurt b.-watch out!) So I will end by waying what a great bunch of people to see again inthe wonderful setting of Potsdam (Madstop!)

I would have to say that after all these years, the friendships that I made in Potsdam were the best I have ever had in my life. From my Campus School friends to my PCS friends you are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met...Susie D., Karen R, Bugsy, Jen J., Sharky, Gay, Vic, Debbie L. and Kelly M., Gina, Teri S., Boaty, Scotty B, Steve and Laurie T., Elaine H, Laurie H., Beth W., Bob B., Eileen, Julie K., Goon, Patty G., Laurie C., just to name a few I had so much fun with you, most of the time laughing so hard I cried! I wanted to thank the reunion team for remembering the ones we lost, especially Ray Scott, my buddy. It meant a lot to me to honor him and the others that we lost way too young. Pam F. I really was disappointed that you could not make it, and MJ it was not the same without you either. Gay and Patty G., we took a lot of pictures, if they can\'t be posted here let\'s share. My email is: ctelise@charter.net. email me anyway just to keep in touch. To all the reunion team members, thanks for the memories! You all worked so hard and it was one of the best times I have ever had in Potsdam. I would love to do a 5 year and I would be willing to help out if you need me. Take care everyone until the next time we see each other. Elise

There really is no place like home. After a lot of laughter and wondering "is that who I think it is" I can honestly say everyone looked great and it was great seeing you all!! To Labatt Blue..Thanks for keeping my secret :) To the SM girls.. SH, PP, DR, PG, PH and to the girls we met in 9th, EJ, LC, JK, etc. Really do miss you all and hope we keep in touch forever. You guys are the best. Thanks to the committee for organizing a great weekend. To MV, you are still a riot. It's amazing how we can live on a diet of Jrecks and Sergis for four days. Thanks also to the wonderful turn out of former teachers. It was great seeing you all :) Count me in in 2012..yikes!!

Thanks so much to all who had a hand in putting this weekend together. It was like attending a refresher course on your own life. I laughed til it hurt several times and the whopping one-liners from a few people in particular would have made even Reddog proud. Just reminds me that the funniest (AKA smartest) people grew up in Potsdam. All I can say is there truly is no place like home! Great thanks to all who traveled far to make the group complete and special thanks to those from Potsdam who attended. You guys have no idea how much it means to us out-of-towners to be able to see and talk to you when we make it home. Hope to see you all in five rather than ten years. Keep in touch. Love to all.

Wow! Sounds like I missed a great time. I didn't find out about the reunion until about trree days before it started. Unfortunatly I had planned a faculty party at my house for Sat 7/21. I am a school social worker now counselling kids that are less then half as nuts as I was in the 70's. Would have been great to dust the cobwebs off some old memories. I am all for getting together for 35. Picture site would be great too for the tech. guru out there. It would be cool to put a recent picture to my past memories. Funny how when I read these postings all these 18 year old faces conjure up in my mind. Trust me, I haven't changed a bit. Drop me a line at Rlenney@nycap.rr.com. Any of you in the Albany vicinity? It would be fun to get together. Again; wish I was there! I was in spirit. Take care,

Wow what a weekend! Again thanks to all for planning and organizing! How's that oldie go" we make never walk this way again.." I think we came pretty darn close . Missed those of you who were not able to attend, maybe you'll make the next gathering. Five years from now does not sound bad. I know I said this to a few of you over the weekend, but thanks for taking me in and beinging my friends. I did not arrive @ PCS (officially, I did know some of you before that, having parents as teachers we did meet others who had the same) until Junior year ( yes Jack did have a daughter your age, he was keeping her hidden in Madrid all those years!). You all made me feel as though I had been there since the early years right along with the rest of you. Thanks! So I've been filling in some of the blanks from the past reading over all the comments that have been posted (since April, how'd did I not know about this site until this weekend??). Eileen you are the one responsible for me turning the floor of the Whalen's new station wagon the nice shade of purplish- pink the night of our prom! Sorry Luci, we can blame Eileen now! Do you guys remember piling 15 people into my white vega and going to someone's house on one of those religious ed. days, to party instead? What were the school administrators thinking??? Julie Lenny missed you, do you remember when we went to Canton the night before our soccer playoff game junior year and painted their goalposts orange and blue?? I recently ran into the old A.D. from Canton and reminded him of the event, he was shocked to hear I was involved!! I guess 2 days was not enough to rehash all the memories, which confirms we need to do this again, only not in 10 years!! Hope everyone made back to their homes safely. If ever you're in the Rochester,NY area, please look me up, love to see or hear from everyone. Karen Rowe and Sue Decker road trip this fall, I'll keep you posted! Love to all, Terri :) PS Boaty my brother Dave is retired out there and loves any excuse to golf, give him a call!

Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed seeing what fine individuals you all turned out to be. You were a class act in '77 and you still have it all together in 'o7. I was very saddened to see the tragedy of loss within your group. My own class graduated 15 years before yours and we've only lost 3 (knock on wood) Be strong, keep the memories, and stay safe... Thanks again. Troy

I ditto what "still dancing" said. (With the exception of the dance with Bugsy.) That was impressive! Maybe our '77/78 reunion theme could be "I'm Still Standing" or "Looks Like We Made It"!! I had the BEST time! It was so great to see everyone again and laugh so hard! Thank you to everyone. PS.. PP.. I can stay another night! xo

As reunions go - this one might be hard to top! I never thought I would get that close again to feeling 18! Can't remember the last time I closed a bar two nights in a row. It was great seeing friends again after (29 years in some cases)...Marty Valade - you can still make us laugh even if you have finally grown up. Bugsy - thanks for the dance, you've still got it after 25 years! JT - thanks for finding that after party hangout for us. Susi - call your Mom and ask if you can stay over another night! And as for the kickball game...'78 wants a rematch! I'm with Besty - let's not wait another 10 years. Love you all and hope to see you before the next reunion.

Okay, just to be fair, we "split" the kickball games one game to 78 and one to 77. However, with the former class of 78 entire track hall of famers as our infield, we may have had a slight advantage! Also, Benson, two or three back surgeries is hardly an excuse for running so slow and being thrown out. I think Mr. Tracey has learned his lesson that sandles are not appropriate foot attire if you're going to try and steel a base, however, it was fun watching you crawl in the dirt! It's so good to know that all that kick ball playing at the Campus School and St. Mary's has finally paid off! The weekend was a total blast and I'm so glad I went. I'd like to make a proposal.......Anyone interested in doing this again in FIVE years for a combined 34/35 year with the 77/78 classes? I heard a lot of buzz about not waiting 10 more years. We can keep this site going and continue to find people and get them on board. Major thanks to the committee for your hard work. Also, you have our gratitude for being a part of the Potsdam hometown community and continuing to make Potsdam the kind of town we all still love to call home. It was a pure delight to be with all of you for a weekend to remember!

Oh my gosh..... This weekend was remarkable!!!! I didn't want to go home Saturday night. Traveling home Sunday, going down rt 81, my husband said I was looking out the window and smiling. I was thinking of the past 2 evenings. First of all I haven't stayed up that late 2 nights in a row for many, many years. It was wonderful seeing the teachers..Mrs Saunders and Mr Gillette you were the best coaches. JO JO I screamed when I saw your posting.. call me 607-844-3223 or 607-592-0268. We don't live very far from each other. Scott Baxter, I'm sorry I couldn't place you until I got home and looked at the yearbook!!! Everyone looked great and everyone was smiling all night long. Boatie keep this website open forever and someone explain to me how to put my pictures on here.

Hello! Just wondering how the word got out on this reunion...I happened to be in Potsdam over the weekend and heard about it from Vic (he hadn't mentioned it before) on Sat. morning. Okay, so I left Potsdam a little early, but I did graduate in '78. Never received a thing, bummer. I'm thinking that maybe someone might have contacted my mom and she forgot to tell me - these things happen when you're pushing 83. I would have liked to see everyone...oh well, maybe at the next one...

You can never go back to the past. You can never re-live it. It is gone forever. It is just not there, not to be had. However, this weekend was close to it. Damn good time. After all these years, to visit with the tribe, some whom you have known since you were knee high to a grasshopper, some whom you have shared with, some whom you've dared with, some whom you have cried with, some whom you have nearly died with, is a privilege. To those spouses and partners who put up with our indulgence - may the favor be returned. Too bad all could not be present. Sad knowing we may not see one another for a long time, and in some cases never again. Heading down that dusty trail. D. Tracy

What an awesome weekend!! It was so great seeing everyone! The Country Club golf outing was a bit "wet" to say the least, but a few brave souls went out to chase a small white ball! While others stayed dry and warm in the club house going over the past and catching up on the present. Sounds like the "girls of '78" were tough competition for the "boys of '77 plus Eileen" in the kickball game! Maybe next time! Revenge is sweet! Thanks to the reunion committee and Bob and Kevin for organizing a fun filled, action packed weekend. It sounded like everyone had a great time and can't wait for the next reunion! It is 3:45 AM Sunday morning and I am sitting at my desk at work thinking back through the past 30 years and the people I have seen the last 2 days. Potsdam was a great place to grow up and make friends. The last 2 days afforded me the chance to see many of them again. I want to personally thank those of you that traveled great distances to come back home this weekend! I believe Lorri had the best time of all and she didn't even graduate from Potsdam (I'm sure the alcohol helped). I wish the best of luck and happiness to all of you! Eileen, I haven't seen that Senior Edition of the RollingStoner in years, but I bet I can remember who was Mr. Cool. Was it Kelly Morgan? And Ms. Flirt, Robin Durham?

Posted by Eileen Bradshaw (class of 1977) on 07/17/2007:
can't answer that trivia question, but if I had done my rummaging around earlier than today, I could have given out lots of fun trivia questions. I came across several issues of "The RollingStoner". The senior edition reports on the prom and the two not mentioned earlier were Prince and Princes (David Riggs and Emily McElwain) The edition tells who was voted "mr.cool", "ms.flirt" and so on. I'll bring the answers with me to one of the gatherings. I also read where I left my mathamatical abilities to "Boba" in the last will and testament segment. Anne, (I can't remmeber why we called you that??) I tried writing you back to thank you for the possible Jeanne phone number (no longer in service, no further info) and hit the reply button from your e-mail (Boaty, if you'r reading this, I thought I was on to a no fail system of email) but it kept getting sent back to me. Peter Frampton, Olivia Newton-John, Eric Carmen, Daryl Hall and John Oates, Wings, Abba, Eagles, Ohio Players, Fleetwood Mac, Donnie and Marie Osmond, Aerosmith, Queen, to name just a few. FINAL GOLF OUTING UPDATE: The golf outing is scheduled for this Friday at the Potsdam Country Club. We have kept our two hour block of time for tee times, which runs from 1:00 -3:00. We ended up with approximately 36 people who RSVP’d for the event as of last Friday. If you are golfing, please show up at the CC on Friday by no later than 12:30 (earlier if possible) to allow time to check-in, warm-up and “socialize” before teeing off. We will start teeing off in groups of 4 at 1:00 sharp on the first tee (this is not a shotgun start) with whoever is there and ready to go. If you want to have a specific group or pairing, please make sure everyone is there and ready to go at the same time. Otherwise, in order to keep things moving and make sure we fit everybody in our block of time, we will be abiding by the “ready golf” tenet and will put together foursomes based on who is present and ready to go. If things run smoothly we should have enough buffer time to accommodate some last-minute folks who want to join us. So, if you want to join us for golf but have not officially signed-up yet, please drop me a quick email @ sharky0013@aol.com and I will add you to my list. Please note that those who officially signed-up in advanced as of July 12th will be given priority for teeing-off. Thanks to everyone who is participating in the golf outing. Everybody has been very responsive and helpful in coordinating this and spreading the word to maximize the turn-out. I’m really looking forward to a very fun and exciting weekend. See you in a few days. Finally, travel safe and pray for good weather.

Side note: If anyone is interested touring the school with MR. Jadlos, it is currently undergoing a major capital project. Since I live on Waverly St., I have had the chance to see everything unfolding. Last time I checked, the gymnasium's back wall was completely removed. It will be expanded by about 50 feet. The football field will become a multi sport facility with all the bells and whistles. artificial turf, new track and everything lighted. The baseball field even has dugouts with a roof. Wow! even my kids are missing out on that since they will both be in College this fall. Hal Gillett, the Saunders, Brian Pelkey and Joe Daniels would still be there if they knew this was coming. Hi Wendy- I have been at my parents house on the St. Lawrence river for the past 2 weeks. We- me, my husband, 16 yr old son and 14 yr old daughter- came out for the 4th, and unfortunately have to return to California on Saturday, so I will not be attending the reunion. Three of my sisters and I had lunch in Potsdam a couple of days ago at this new place called First Crush, and in walks Mr. Ham. He actually recognized us and came over to our table to say hi. You would recognize him in a second- 30 years hasn't changed him one bit, in fact, he may even look better (not fair!) I live an hour North East of Sacramento, CA. The last I saw of Mary LaShomb was in the mid 80's when we were both living in the San Francisco Bay area. She was sharing an apt with her sister, Charmaine. Sadly, I lost track of her when I moved north. It would be very nice to hear from her again. What is your email address? I would love to catch up with you off-line.

Wow! Just reading this site is a trip... I'm trying to match names with faces I haven't seen in twenty years (oh, wait... thirty years) and only hope I don't sound like a complete idiot (or offend any kind soul) if a former classmate starts with "Do you remember when..." and I am still working on "Who the hell is that?" So, I'll apologize in advance and blame it on the heat... Oh, and please don't take it personally, either. I have many other excuses: I am a mother of two teenagers; I'll be preoccupied spying on what my twin sister is doing; I'm wondering why David Riggs is wearing a white lab coat to a bbq; I'm hoping Benson will stop blaming his golf score on the altitude (enough already); and my friend, Tonia Irwin, isn't at my side feeding me names! Does sound like a wonderful time. I guess you never want to have to say, "I wish I hadn't missed my 30 year high school reunion..." - - Look forward to reconnecting with you! Sincerely, Nancy Hunter Denney (to see what I've been up to, visit: www.nancyhunterdenney.com - or not)

IMPORTANT GOLF OUTING UPDATE: As you are aware the reunion weekend is rapidly approaching and we are in the final stages of putting the finishing touches on some of the events, including the golf outing on Friday, July 20th. Please note that the DEADLINE for signing-up to participate in the golf outing is this coming Thursday, July 12th. I will be giving the golf pro at the Country Club (Frank Mittiga) a final headcount on Friday, July 13th. At that point our reserved block of time will be finalized based on the number of anticipated participants. We currently have a two hour block of time from 1:00 – 3:00, and approximately 34 golfers signed-up. If this number does not change dramatically I would expect our block of time to be reduced to 90 minutes. If you want to join us for golf but have not signed up yet, please do a formal RSVP on the reunion website and email me at sharky0013@aol.com (those are zeros, not the letter O before the 13) by July 12th. After that date there will not be any guarantee that there will be any time available to accommodate last-minute golfers on the day of the outing. Also, if you previously signed-up for golf but now will not be able to make it, please let me know ASAP. Finally, if you know of someone who would want to golf but has not signed-up yet, please urge them to do so by July 12th. If you have any questions please email me at the address listed above. It looks like we will have a nice turnout for the reunion and I’m certainly looking forward to seeing everyone throughout the weekend.

David, I'm glad Bob B found you. Lynn Blevins can fix you up with another Winnebago for the weekend, and it will be like old times. Our family visits Grayton and Rosemary beaches often in your area. I agree with you, it is nice.I'll be driving up from Syracuse Thursday afternoon and returning to Syracuse Sunday if someone traveling could use a ride.themasons5@comcast.net

Glad to see they found you, Riggser! Hanging out down there on the Florida Panhandle, I see. Did you get hit with any of the hurricanes that passed through that area?

I am alive and well in Niceville, Florida (yah, that's REALLY the name of the town--and yes, it's "Nice"). Benson tracked me down last night and Sharkey surprised me tonight (thought it wa a prank call...actually was!). I will be flying up Friday--no more Winnebago, sorry. Piss poor golfer (even for a doc), so I'll just show for the drinking, eating and dancing. Looking forward to this hoot!

Many people have inquired about the barbecue Friday nite--Anyone is welcome to just show-up and join us for drinks...It is not a sit-down dinner. Plenty of people will show-up just for cocktails (cash bar). Please feel free to join us if you'd like. We'll be done by 8PM and headed downtown at that point. You don't have to rsvp if you just want to join us for drinks at the CC...just another chance for us all to get together!

Ok, Wendy, I'm now officially "out of the closet"...Cpt.Marvel here--studies have demonstrated moderate amounts of alcohol actually improve many health facets so your sobriety all these years may be reason for concern...We need to talk about this issue at the re-union...We need to "ease you into some alcohol indulgence"... Lastly, the fact YOU can't remember the games we played in 7th grade also demonstrates your memory might be affected...we'll get you some assistance in good ole Potsdam...

Sammy - Once again, I think you have me mistaken for someone else. After 30 years, Mr. "Stoner", that long-term memory of yours may be a bit fuzzy... So when do you plan to reveal your TRUE identity and come out from behind that alias...

For those of you who may choose the Tons option on Friday, Double Axle has been confirmed to play from 9 to 1. I you would like to take a trip down the prom memory lane hope to see you there.

does anyone have the number for jeanne chapple? I tried calling the last number I had but it was wrong. Jeanne, if you read this call me at 607-432-0924 or ebradshaw@stny.rr.com. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in the real near future. I was telling my younger son about tacks being put on my seat at school almost on a daily basis ( it sounds so very little house on the prairieish but I lived it daily during 1973-74) Mr cunha ignored the yelps of pain, but most
